A Rail Infrastructure Manager (RIM) may surrender registration of its private siding.
To surrender a registration, the RIM must inform ONRSR in writing of the intention to surrender and provide details as to the arrangements proposed in the cessation of rail operations
RIMs are advised to contact ONRSR prior to submitting the written intention to surrender in order to clarify the requirements.
It is preferable that the applicant gives ONRSR at least 28 days notice of intention to surrender.
While ONRSR will not unreasonably withhold acceptance of the surrender, ONRSR must be satisfied that the proposed arrangements for the surrender do not present a safety risk to other rail transport operators or the public.
