  • ATSB Report - Derailment of train 9614S, near Port Augusta, SA

    On 17 February 2013, ore train 9614S was departing Spencer Junction en route to Whyalla, South Australia. While the train was traversing 38A points at the northern end of Spencer Junction, the driver noticed a change in the train’s dynamic behaviour and immediately reduced the throttle.

    Deputy Prime and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss and South Australian Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Stephen Mullighan today announced the appointment of Ms Susan McCarrey as the new Chief Executive of the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR).

    Rail transport operators are reminded that the 2008 Rail Safety Regulators Panel (RSRP) versions of ON-S1 and OC-G1 were updated by the ONRSR early in 2013 to account for the introduction of the Rail Safety National Law National Regulations.
