Notice to all operators - Cyber security alert
The Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) has become aware of an accredited rail transport operator (RTO) receiving an email requesting payment of its Annual Fees Invoice to updated banking details. The email comes from an account purporting to be ONRSR.
This message has not come from an ONRSR email account. The email, a copy of which is included below, is a fake. ONRSR has not changed its banking details.
ONRSR is highlighting the potential for other RTO’s to receive this fraudulent email.
While there is no indication of ONRSR’s systems being compromised, we are as a matter of due diligence, conducting a thorough investigation and are now working with the RTO concerned to determine the source of the fake email.
Should your organisation receive such an email, or any email you are not comfortable with, then please contact ONRSR immediately via the ONRSR Finance team.
Please do not forward any such emails, but taking a screen shot of the email will help our IT team with its investigation.
