Variation of accreditation

Accredited Rail Transport Operators (RTOs) proposing change to their operations, or the conditions or restrictions of their accreditation, may be required to submit a variation to their accreditation pursuant to section 68 of the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL).

A RTO applying for a variation of accreditation should allow at least 6 months for the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) to assess the application and are advised to contact the ONRSR early in the process to clarify the requirements.

To apply for a variation of accreditation a RTO must complete the Application for Variation of Accreditation Form. This form should be submitted to the ONRSR with attached supporting documentation describing the changes to their Safety Management System.
