Safe railways for Australia

Operations Forum - Adelaide Office

The Operations Forum aims to give ONRSR Adelaide Office and representatives of the rail industry the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss South Australian, Tasmanian and the Northern Territory operational rail safety and regulation issues.

The forum typically takes place over the course of a day, with the first half of the day devoted to issues of interest and of local relevance that have been identified through the Operations Reference Group or from suggestions made directly to the Adelaide Office. This takes the form of presentations, panel discussions and/or interactive workshops.

After a networking lunch, the second half of the day is largely devoted to the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator presenting information about national regulation activities, which includes time for questions from attendees.

The forum is intended to allow attendees to:

  • discuss compliance issues at an operator level across the Adelaide Office
  • have input into the ONRSR’s regulatory strategies to improve safety in the industry
  • review and contribute to safety improvement initiatives developed by the ONRSR
  • be kept informed of ONRSR-related issues that are considered through other rail industry consultative committees such as the ONRSR's CEO Industry Reference Group and the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board's Safety Managers Group.

It is intended that the forum is held at least once a year. Other shorter forums may be held during the year if a need is identified through the Reference Group.
